Peter Ingkiriwang (Operations Manager) will be taking retirement effective 1 April 2011 after 13 years of service with Sillo. Enjoy the rest, Pak Peter. You deserve it.

Percy Hee (Swire Pacific) was in Sillo office and performed more interviews. Several officers were selected and they will be given the opportunity for training and experience on Swire’s DP vessels.
A Joint Cooperation Agreement was signed with the Semarang Growth Center new management on 16 February.

The new management is now Pak Bagus Priyatno (Director) and ibu Tuti (Deputy Director)
A course on Maritime Labour Convention (2006) Code was conducted by Capt Graham Boterrill of Ferriby Marine on 28 January 2011. The course was sponsored by CIMA (Consortium of Indonesian Manning Agents) and was well attended. The course was intended to give a better understanding on the convention and the expectations of the manning agencies. Sillo’s Capt Nur Khamid (Operations Manager) and Rina Wattimena (Operations Coordinator) attended.
An office Fire Drill was performed in Sillo in mid January. Our evacuation caused quite a stir with other tenants who were wondering why we were evacuating.
Ferriby/Global performed the ISO annual audit in January 2011.
In December 2010, Capt Shah of Bourbon Offshore Asia Pte Ltd made a selection of several crew members of various ranks from Sillo’s available pool.
Relationship with Swire Pacific Singapore has been solidified with a signed agreement in November 2010.
The last BSP (Best Student Program) course was conducted in SGC on 25 October to 12 November 2010. The course was attended by 18 selected students from STIMAR AMNI Semarang, UHT Surabaya and AMP Jakarta. All the students claimed this was the most informative course they have attended.
Through the efforts of Capt Nur Khamid, Sillo have extended its service to Tidewater Nigeria. Johny Sandi left for Lagos on 25 January to be CM/DPO.
Percy Hee and Marc Thompson of Swire Pacific Ship Management Singapore conducted interviews in Sillo office for additional Indonesian crew in October 2010. Those selected have been placed on various ships in the Swire Pacific fleet.

Sillo’s QAR Officer, Jordan Firman, completed and passed the Lead Auditors Course in July 2010. Congratulations!!

Cadet Tri Jakarsa, graduate of Akpleni in Semarang, completed his cadetship onboard M.T. Nordpower (319,000 dwt) in June 2010. He is now accepted as 4th Engineer on M.T. Nordfalcon with Reederei Nord. Well done Tri!!!

Advance classes for cadets sponsored by Sillo will commence in August/September and October/November

Tidewater International distributed Safety Leadership awards to select senior officers for their contribution to Tidewater achieving zero accident lost time for the whole fiscal year ending March 2010. There were 27 senior officers from Sillo who were selected for this Safety Leadership Award.

Since April 2010, Sillo’s Commercial Director Ms. Retno Wattimena together with SGC’s Dr. Wolfgang Busse, visited several maritime academies in Jakarta, Semarang, Cilacap, Jogyakarta, Surabaya, and even Samarinda to meet with school management/instructors and interview promising students in Semester 4 to 6.

Sillo delegation visited Cyprus and Germany to develop joint cooperation with several shipping companies. The trip was successful and very productive.

Operations Manager, Capt. Nurkhamid, has returned from a 7-month seamanship in the Middle East and South East Asia. He quickly renewed relations with various Tidewater offices and has filled the increased demands:

Capt Graham Botterill, President Director of Ferriby Marine, took time out from his busy schedule in Jakarta to visit Sillo’s office.

Most recent CADET Tri Cahya Purnomo left on 21 March for MV Nordstar, 22878 dwt. Good luck, happy sailing and make us proud.

Andri Julvian made a quick trip to Singapore in February and met up with old friends in Tidewater Singapore office, Mr Lim, Linda and Simon.

Mr. Sergey Parkhomenko, crewing manager of NORD came by on his annual tour of Asia. Together with ibu Retno, they visited Semarang Growth Center (Sillo’s training partner). He has confirmed to take more CADETS by the end of this year.

In January, Ferriby auditors Graeme Lacey and Will Wesson came and conducted the annual audit for ISO recertification. We passed again!! ….. and we are now ISO 9001:2008. Good job everyone …. And especially Jordan for keeping on top of this.

NORD likes our specially trained CADETS. We are proud that these CADETS have received good remarks by their respective senior officers.

On 26 November 2009 John Davitt, Director of P&I Club Britania, visited Jakarta to meet with senior executives of Pertamina and Humpuss Intermuda. John was accompanied by Ibu Retno Wattimena and Pak Ridjani Noer, both Directors of Sillo, during the meetings.

In order to better accommodate our Principals’ needs, Sillo is in the process of upgrading our ISO certification to ISO 9001:2008.

Tidewater Cameroon now have a few ships in Mozambique. 2E Nuryadi and 3E Amran were surprised that their destination is Pemba.

Sillo has commenced to send cadets to the well know German shipping company Reederei Noord Klaus E. Oldendorff.

Sillo is also now a registered agent for US Visa for Seafarers.

Sillo is now a registered agent for seafarers to obtain endorsements for Marshall Islands and Liberian flags.

Good news from Tidewater. They are getting a number of new ships for the Asia Pacific region, which also means they will be releasing a few of their older ladies.

Tidewater continues with regular training on safety awareness on AHTS. This training called E-Colors is very effective as it derives input from participants who come from different countries.Tidewater sudah bebarapa kali melakukan training untuk meningkatkan pengertian safety dikapal AHTS. Training yang disebut E-Colors sangat bermanfaat karena merupakan gabungan input dari para awak kapal dari berbagai negara dan dilaksanakan di Sattahip, Thailand.

On 6-8 May 2008, a Conference was held in Singapore where the main topic was the shortage of skilled Seafarers globally whilst shipbuilding is now very quick and advanced technology is now more and more in use on new ships.
